Scientific and Thai Names of Bamboo
Species of Argentina
The vast country of Argentina ranges from the frigid Tierra del Fuego of the south to the
steamy sub-tropics of the north.  Holding both the highest (Cerro Aconcagua) and the
lowest (Laguna del Carbon) elevations, it is a country of climactic and geographic
extremes.  Argentina has 15 -18 endemic species with several others being introduced
into cultivation (mainly in gardens).  The best source of information about the endemic
species (and all species found in Argentina) can be found at the
Instituto Botanico
Darwinion (www.darwin.edu.ar).
